Fire crews have responded to calls north and south of Steinbach Wednesday afternoon and evening.
First a two vehicle collision at the corner of Highway #12 and Clearspring Road north of Steinbach was called in just after 2:30 p.m.  There were no injuries.  Then just before 3 p.m. Hanover Farms on Highway #12 south of Steinbach reported a belt on fire at their feed mill.  Crews arrived on scene but there were no flames and very little smoke.  A welder was doing some work in an auger shaft and the sparks started a rubber belt on fire.  The blaze which caused about $10,000 damage was quickly put out.  And then, just before 4pm crews were called a 3rd time.  This time to a single vehicle rollover on Highway #12 north of Steinbach near the airport.  A Dodge pickup truck pulling a trailer loaded with large pipes had tipped over in the ditch.  No word on injuries.  Later in the evening, Steinbach fire crews were called to extinguish a bon fire on Ellice Avenue that was left unattended.  There was no damage, however, the fire department is reminding us to never leave a fire unattended, even if we think the flames won't go anywhere while we're gone.
