After spending the last 7 years in Steinbach practicing law, litigation lawyer Justin Vincent has joined the team at Loewen Henderson Banman Legault.

Justin grew up in Winnipeg resulting from his parents moving from Ste. Anne in pursuit of their careers. Yet, with his family having built Oakwood Golf course and campground, as a child, he spent the majority of his summers outside the bustle of the city.

While Winnipeg was home, moving into his career, he knew the importance of rural Manitoba having access to litigation counsel, which was primarily available in Winnipeg. Often going to Penner Foods or the now closed 'The Funky Homosapien' when his parents had free time from working at the golf course on the weekends, establishing his career in Steinbach seemed like a natural progression, especially with his uncle having established Funk’s Autobody, now under the leadership of his cousin, Myles Chaput.

'It has a spirit of entrepreneurship, which I very much admire,' explains Justin about what drew him to Steinbach. 'You see a lot of small business here, and I’m motivated by people who I see exercising their independence and going out into the world and making something for themselves.'

During his University years as a political science student, Justin was strongly motivated by government’s role in striking a balance between personal freedom and necessary limitations on that freedom. He came to realize that commerce and private business was key in maintaining that balance, noting: 'We have a safe and orderly society where everybody can maximize their freedom to the extent that it doesn’t compromise anybody’s else’s safety, personal or private business interests.'

Yet, he acknowledges disputes do occur, whether it's human rights concerns, unsafe environments causing personal injury, or disputes between businesses and clients. It’s these types of circumstances that make litigation services necessary.

'It’s about assisting the interests of every single person in society,' Justin explains, 'and trying to do your best to protect your clients and enforce your clients’ interests. We try to calm the waters when our clients come to us in the middle of the storm.' He continues, 'I'm the guy that is willing to look out for you and do what we need to do to make sure that you feel protected or that you feel like your voice is being heard.'

Justin joined Loewen Henderson Banman Legault as they didn’t have a litigation lawyer on their team. For Justin, joining the team was an opportunity to grow his own practice as well as helping Loewen Henderson Banman Legault to become a full-service law firm. 'They are very serious and very well-respected gentlemen,' he says of his colleagues. 'I felt that I could fall within the mold and help to grow the firm and assist them in their vision.'
