The Summer In The City festival in downtown Steinbach is exactly four months away. Spokesperson Keith Unger says they're now accepting applications for all those interested in performing that weekend. That includes food, craft or trade vendors as well as visual or performing artists.

"Right now we're focused on getting the word out there to all the local restaurants, all the local businesses, the people that are typically at festivals that want to run a vendor on Main Street that they apply today," says Unger. "Space is limited so we want to make sure that we give everybody equal opportunity. As well space is limited on our main stage as far as artists and our entertainment."

Unger invites anyone interested, to apply. He notes they want to start filling spots as early as possible in order to provide the highest quality entertainment possible.

Unger notes Summer In The City provides a great chance for local talent to shine. "Very good opportunity," he says. "If you remember last year there was so many local acts throughout the day that were just so amazing. Everybody's excited to play at the venue and the acts are top notch. We're always blown away by the talent we have here in Steinbach."

According to Unger planning for the big Festival June 15 and 16 is going well and he notes excitement for this event keeps growing from one year to the next. "You're going to see us reach further to see if we can get new people to the Festival," he says. "Our repeat is very, very good. But we're going to try some possibly bigger acts, that's still to come and a marketing plan that will get more newcomers to come experience Steinbach."
