The optimism in the cattle sector was evident at Canadian Western Agribition in Regina last week.

"We had a great week," says General Manager and CEO Marty Seymour. "We had really strong attendance, lots of activity, and real strong sales on the cattle and bison side."

"We saw part interest in an Angus calf go for $67,000. We saw some $20,000 heifers sold. It was really strong. It does speak to the optimism in the cattle industry, but I think agricultural overall is a good place to be," he says.

Seymour notes the number of international visitors to western Canada's largest livestock show continues to grow.

"We had over 800 international guests registered, and representation from over 50 countries. There were some animals sold this year going as far as Mexico, and some into the U.S. We also had a great showing from Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine. Once again it speaks to Agribition as an international event in an international marketplace," he says.

The CCA Finals Rodeo is also a major part of Agribition. Brad Dyck of Gladstone claimed the Bareback Champion Belt Buckle on Saturday night.
