Advanced voting in Steinbach down significantly compared to 2018 election

The City of Steinbach has seen a significant drop in advanced voting compared to the 2018 Municipal Election. 

Steinbach’s advanced voting took place on Thursday at the Hanover School Division administrative offices from 8 A.M. to 8 P.M. 

Deb Rempel, Steinbach's Senior Election Official says there were a total of 368 votes cast during advanced and mobile advanced voting this year. This is down from the 829 votes cast during advanced voting in the 2018 municipal election. 

A key difference between the two elections is that in 2022, Mayor Earl Funk has been acclaimed, whereas, in the last election, there was a three-candidate race for the seat.

The 2022 municipal election will take place next Wednesday, October 26th. In Steinbach, residents will cast their ballots at the Pat Porter Active Living Centre between 8 A.M. and 8 P.M.
