The extension of Acres Drive is finally complete and the reconstruction of Brookdale Crescent is rolling along.

City of Steinbach Engineer Aaron Rach says though the Acres Drive may have looked complete in early July, there were a few things that held up the official opening.

"The project was essentially completed but there were some deficiencies that needed to be corrected so the roadway itself, all those deficiencies are now completed.”

As of Wednesday afternoon, Rach says Acres Drive is open all the way to Keating Road, which should be very helpful.

“It will give some nice relief given that Park Road West is closed now. That is another alternate route.”

Meanwhile, Rach says he has an update on the Brookdale Crescent project. He notes the entire street was dug up this summer and all of the underground infrastructure was replaced. It is now nearing completion.

“The curb work has gone in and the contractor is preparing to pour the driveways. Following that, there will be asphalt paving which I believe is scheduled for next week and then following that, just some final landscaping and that should wrap up the project.”

And finally, many drivers in Steinbach have noticed the work going on at the intersection of Main Street and Lumber Avenue. Rach says that’s actually not a city project.

“That is just some road restoration from some private utility work. A contractor had to install a utility for a property there and they are just going in a cleaning up the damage to the street.”

As it is a private project, Rach says he does not have an estimated time of completion.
