Many of us have been cooking at home more than we used too, and that has led both Jayme and Michelle to bring recipes to the Morning Show to share, but Chris hadn't until Thursday!

He shared his wife’s chili recipe, because it’s just too good to keep to himself. He mentioned during the show they had it earlier this week when it was still a little... chilly ;)

This is what you need:
1 pound of hamburger
1/2 onion diced
1 green or red pepper chopped
1 can each of pork and beans, kidney beans rinsed, diced/crushed tomatoes and tomato soup
1 tsp salt
1 Tbsp chili powder
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tsp vinegar
2 Tbsp brown sugar
A squirt of mustard and ketchup
A few dashes of Worcestershire sauce.

Chris suggested using a big pot, so you can do this all in one to save on the dishes.

Brown the beef and onions together.

Then essentially add everything in after that starting with salt, chili powder, and pepper. Help “wake them up” by warming them up. Stir in and let sit for a minute or two.

After that dump in the cans of pork and beans, kidney beans and tomato soup. Follow that up with the brown sugar. Mix together.

Finally add mustard and ketchup, plus a few dashes of Worcestershire sauce.

Chris likes simmering the chili for at least 30 minutes to give all the flavours a chance to make friends with each other. And as any good chili aficionado knows... chili always tastes better the next day when you heat up for the second time.

He also mentioned you can always chop up a few green onions, shred some cheddar cheese and dollop on some sour cream if you want to get really fancy. Or if you’re a purist, three ladles in a bowl and you’re set!
