The burned out embankment where a car crashed near Grunthal Park

There has been a bad accident in Grunthal.

Fire chief Paul Wiebe says it's believed to have happened overnight but the wreck wasn't spotted until after daybreak. He adds, "Grunthal fire crews were called out at about 7:00 this morning to a single vehicle accident right at the Grunthal Park. It appears the vehicle was heading south on Cottonwood Road and failed to notice that the road stopped there and they left the road and went over an embankment. There were 3 young people in the vehicle and they all sustained injuries and were taken into hospital. The car had actually caught fire; it had burnt out."

Wiebe says the condition of the young males is not immediately known but says the injuries did not appear life-threatening. He notes the embankment the car hit is along Joubert Creek.

We expect further details from RCMP later today.
