Some young cheerleaders and their parents have a lot to cheer about these days.

Charlie, age seven, and her mom Alyssa got to spend some time at a cheer competition last weekend with Phoenix Cheer. Time together as a team was already special, but they capped off their weekend together with a big win, taking 1st Place in their division.

Charlie has been part of the Phoenix cheerleading team for a couple of years already and was really excited about finishing in first place in the competition.

What does she enjoy most about cheerleading?

“I like my friendships and I like being flexible,” she says.

And her mom Alyssa is also proud of the team's accomplishment.

“It was pretty incredible to watch them come in first and to see that their hard work paid off,” she says.

After a long period of time with limited competition and gathering opportunities, Alyssa adds, “it was great to see the team run around the event, and just be free to be themselves and enjoy each other's company again.”

Both Charlie and Alyssa are thankful for Phoenix Cheer.

Alyssa says, “they are incredible. They have such great coaches and organization. They just constantly have something on the go; new classes, new activities, and a great way to get all the kids involved with each other as well. I can't say enough about them. They are just awesome.”
