Steinbach RCMP says a 16-year-old male was issued two tickets around 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday following cannabis-related offenses.

RCMP say they received information that the occupants of a vehicle were consuming cannabis. Police say upon arrival, the driver of the vehicle and occupants were all arrested under the Liquor, Gaming, and Cannabis Control Act.

A 16-year-old resident of Steinbach was issued one ticket under the Highway Traffic Act for Unlawful Transportation of Cannabis in or on a Vehicle and one ticket under the Liquor, Gaming, and Cannabis Control Act for Possession or Consumption of Cannabis by a Young Person.

RCMP say 25.5 grams of cannabis was seized as an individual under the age of 19 cannot legally possess any cannabis in Manitoba. A total of $909 in fines were issued. RCMP say these are the first cannabis-related tickets issued in Steinbach since recreational cannabis was legalized last Wednesday.
