Curator for the Mennonite Heritage Village stopped by the AM1250 Studio this morning to update us on the project of re-thatching the roof of the Waldheim house. What an exciting thing to get to see history come to life. The thatcher will be starting his work, weather permitting, mid-June and it will take between 3 and 4 weeks to get it done. Plenty of opportunity to watch it happen!!

These are the reeds used to cover the roof.

Judd (right) harvested every reed by hand and there were enough bales to fill over one full semi-trailer!! Incredible. Listen to Andrea tell AM1250's Michelle Sawatzky all about the project in the AM1250 Audio Vault.
