If you have driven down Highway 12 and looked over the pond area -- you may have seen what looks like someone pulling someone else out of the water. It is indeed a statue. The statue was unveiled just before Remembrance Day -- it is of Dierk Willms turning back and pulling his pursuer out of the water and saving his life, even though, after he did he was re-arrested and eventually killed for his faith in 1569.

The choice he made represents the peace and non-resistance so prevalent in Mennonite history.
