Manitoba's Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) is now saying that three new cases of the PED virus have been confirmed in southeast Manitoba dating back to June 6th.

Two barns were confirmed positive on June 6th, one being a finisher operation, the other a sow operation. Both were within the 5 km buffer area as a previously infected site in southeast Manitoba.

On June 7th, the CVO confirmed positive test results in a nursery operation outside of an existing 5 km buffer zone.

These three new cases brings the number of confirmed positive PEDv sites in the recent outbreak to 13, with 23 on-farm cases overall in Manitoba.

Manitoba Pork is urging producers to control access into their yards, as numerous situations have occurred in which service providers have not followed biosecurity procedures.
