Chemical giant Bayer will be opening it's books on glyphosate to be more transparent with the public.

On Friday, December 7 safety study summaries of glyphosate, which is the active ingredient in Monsanto's Round-Up, will be available on their award winning Transparency Platform website.

Bayer acquired Monsanto back in June.

Bayer says, safety studies are experiments allowing scientists to assess potential adverse effects of crop protection products on humans, animals, non-target organisms, or the environment.

President of Bayer's Crop Science Division, Liam Condon, says their commitment to transparency is their core mission as they move forward as a combined company after purchasing Monsanto.

"We recognize that people around the world want more information around glyphosate – and we are eager to offer access to our glyphosate-related safety data on our dedicated transparency platform. This platform has set new standards of accountability and responsibility in the sector; we pledge to use it as a springboard to continue to share science-based information with the public.”

The company says, access to the full glyphosate safety study reports will be available sometime next year.
