Steinbach is ahead of last year's pace when it comes to house sales.

Peter Squire is with Multiple Listing Service. He says when you take January 1st to June 30th, 2016, house sales for the Winnipeg realtors market region, which includes Steinbach were up 9%. But in Steinbach alone, it's about 20%.

"Steinbach would certainly be following the trend of some other areas that are seeing some increased sales this year over last year," shares Squire.

So far this year, there have been 538 listings and 245 sales. Through the same period one year ago it was 573 listings and 204 sales.

"We don't have quite as many listings on the system as we did in 2015 but we're seeing a higher conversion of listings to sales," notes Squire. "So we're seeing some stronger buyer sentiment across the entire market."

Some other numbers to chew on include 19 condo sales so far this year, compared to 13 last year and an average selling price for a home at $268,281. That is more than $8,000 more than the same period one year earlier.

According to Squire, there were 58 house sales in June alone for Steinbach. He says that would rank right up there with the best Junes on record. And while historically, June ends the busiest quarter of the year, Squire says he is expecting big things yet in 2016.

"My expectation and hope is we can continue on with the momentum we've seen in May and June," he says. "We've had some very good July and Augusts."

In addition to the strong month of June, Squire says February was also a record month for this region, while April ended very strong.

"Really this is our best year ever so far," he says.
