RCMP have issued a few reminders to make sure that everyone stays safe during the Pioneer Days parade Friday morning. Sergeant Joanne Ryll says the Chamber of Commerce, City of Steinbach and police have taken some precautions to make sure people stay well back from the floats.

"The City of Steinbach will be putting up some barricades; some will be ribbon barricades, yellow ribbon. We're asking everybody to be mindful of those barricades. They are there for your safety. We also want to remind everyone, especially the young children, not to run out for the candies because I know that's one of the big things for the kids. Don't run out for the candies, the candies will come to you. The people in the parade have marchers handing them out." "

Ryll says there are plenty of distractions during a parade with all the sounds and sights and the many people all around so it's important that parents be extra careful to make sure their children don't run into the street.

The parade will start at the fire hall and travel along Main Street, then north on Highway #12 up to Stonebridge Crossing.
