Drawing of Primary Health Care Centre

Plans for a Primary Health Care Centre in Steinbach have cleared a hurdle and can now proceed. Back in June, a resident of Stonebridge Crossing had objected to the rezoning of the land, claiming the centre would lead to a large increase in traffic on his street. The objection meant the matter had to go to a Municipal Board hearing which could take months. Roderick Macleod has since withdrawn the objection enabling the city to give Third and Final Reading to the Rezoning By-Law.

Councillor John Fehr made the motion Tuesday night.

"This is something that I think our city is very much in need of, the new health facility there. I am sure glad that the objector did not pursue it any further so that this complex can go ahead without any further delay. It's going to be good for our city."

Council was unanimous in approving the Motion.

The Primary Health Care Centre will be built by Bethesda Wellness Incorporated on land northwest of the Eastman Education Centre along Loewen Boulevard.
