Emergency crews were called to a car fire at Loewen Windows in the parking lot off Millwork Drive at 2:15 p.m. Friday.

Steinbach Fire Assistant Deputy Chief Mike Penner explains one of the maintenance workers at Loewen Windows thought the car might have been wanting to start, but the car was found to not be equip with command start. Penner adds there was also no one in the vehicle at the time of the fire.

Penner says crews were able to extinguish the fire, then cool the vehicle down by spraying it with foam to prevent the fire from reigniting.

Penner notes the cause of the fire upon initial investigation appears to have been caused from an electrical shortage.

There were no injuries.
