More provincial government debenture funding has been given to the Hanover School Division.

Secretary-Treasurer Kevin Heide says debentures only represent a portion of each project cost and, generally speaking, thre are several payments to finalize each project. This $1,455,200 announcement represented nine projects including Kleefeld, Woodlawn, Green Valley, SRSS and Landmark Collegiate roof projects, additions at Blumenort, Southoaks and Steinbach Regional Secondary School, modular classroom at Kleefeld and wall projects at Woodlawn and Landmark Collegiate.

"For the most part these will be progress payments and there will be more money to come," notes Heide. "We always know how much we're going to get because they anounce the funding prior to, so we know what we're going to get in total. The debentures just cover off our expenditures to date to clear up our bank account."

He adds, for the most part, these nine projects will be completely government funded. SRSS will have HSD contributions due to building project preferences.

Meanwhile, the tender for the Niverville Elementary School five classroom addition was awarded to Von Ast Construction for $2,051,000, which will be funded by the province. Heide says Von Ast Construction has a 30 week window in which to complete the project so cleaning staff can prepare the room in July for staff and students to use in September.
