Louise Billows is running in the upcoming Niverville byelection with a focus on young people.

Billows grew up in St.Pierre but spent much of her adult life owning a business in Winnipeg. She says she moved to Niverville just under a year ago and fell in love with the community. She notes she was blown away by the Niverville Heritage Centre and the care that is given to seniors, and would like to give similar thought to the young people.

“This is a young community and they need a lot of support, like schools, daycare, recreation and some of that is in the making right now with a new complex being built, but we have to focus on the future because these kids are growing and they are going to need new accommodations and good education.”

Billows says she owned her own business for 20 years and worked in economic development before that. She says a growing business community will help the future generations.

“Something that I really really think is needed in Niverville is sustainable businesses, economic growth in small and medium sized businesses. I love living here, let's build for the future here for our kids and for our kid's kids.”

Billows says she has met many people who, like her, only moved to town recently and it would be beneficial to have someone on town council to represent that part of the population. She adds she is a strong advocate for clear communication between town council and the residents of Niverville.

The Niverville byelection will take place on September 14th.
