Firefighters extinguished a burning tractor southwest of Marchand yesterday (photo credit: La Broquerie Fire Department).
La Broquerie Firefighters were dispatched to a tractor fire at around 6 PM yesterday evening.
According to Fire Chief Alain Nadeau, a farmer was raking last year’s hay in his field along Road 27 North, just southwest of Marchand, when his tractor battery suddenly ignited.
He says his fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze in 20 minutes and successfully prevented it from spreading to the surrounding field.
The tractor is a total loss.
