The Reeve of Hanover says they will try again for funding to construct a water pipeline from Grunthal to Kleefeld.

A pipeline is needed to dilute Kleefeld water and lower barium content. Stan Toews notes this is a project that has been on the books for many years and needs government funding in order to be tackled. Yet Toews says year after year the funding never comes.

"They probably have other projects that need more funding, are more in need than this one would be," suggests Toews.

Hanover Council has identified this project as its top priority on a list submitted to the Water Services Board. The list is for funding opportunities as part of a five year core infrastructure renewal plan.

Toews notes each year they submit a list and this year they have four priorities.

1) Kleefeld/ Grunthal region pipeline for fresh water
2) Blumenort lift station force main
3) Kleefeld 1st, 2nd, 3rd Street water main improvements
4) Mitchell lift station and force main

Toews notes the Blumenort lift station, Kleefeld water main improvements and Mitchell lift station are each making this list for the first time. He says they submit their list of priorities without the guarantee of any funding being announced.

"They ask for a list each year," notes Toews. "I guess they can kind of plan and they know what municipalities are asking for and looking for."
