Construction crews are busy at a number of schools in the Hanover School Division, including Niverville Collegiate Institute and Niverville Elementary School.

Director of Facilities Bob Proulx says there are eight schools being worked this summer with a lot of work being done in Niverville.

Niverville Elementary School"[For Niverville Collegiate Institute], we are in the gym, we are going to redo the spray-on insulation, the sound spray insulation. We are also installing brand new bleachers and the school is also getting brand new lockers in the one section of the school. As well, we're also doing new sidewalks and a major window replacement," explains Proulx. "For Niverville Elementary, we're getting ready for the new addition that's hopefully going to be started sometime before school start up. We are preparing and doing some renovations in some existing classrooms to make room for the extra space that is needed throughout that school."

Proulx notes the bleachers are going to look like the Steinbach Regional Secondary School bleachers and will be red and black, the school colors. He says there are three schools which will see additions hopefully started this summer.

"Again, the Niverville Elementary addition, that's a five classroom addition. We're also hoping to start before school start up the Blumenort addition which is a two classroom addition. Also the Southoaks four classroom addition. So we're hoping to get shovel in the ground before school start up."

Landmark Collegiate is also undergoing major construction. Proulx explains there will be a large section of the roof replaced overtop of the gym and old band room. He adds they are also doing a brick veneer replacement and adding new windows.

Other schools seeing construction this summer include Bothwell School, Green Valley Collegiate and Kleefeld School.

Proulx notes many of the schools are receiveing floor replacements. He says this is division wide and they are budgeting approximately $100,000 for the floor renewal project.
