The Hanover Fire Chief says their crews were forced to run between two different calls Saturday afternoon.

Paul Wiebe says a grass fire just off Road 29E west of Mitchell burned through 10-15 acres late in the afternoon on Saturday. He notes firefighters from Kleefeld, New Bothwell, and Blumenort were on scene when they got a second call.

"We have it pretty much knocked down, we are checking for some hot spots and then we got another call to a car fire about a half hour ago so it has been a busy afternoon. It was just a couple miles west of here. It was just a vehicle that was on a field and it was started on fire. We don't have a cause yet on that, RCMP was looking into that."

Wiebe says they were able to put out the vehicle fire before it was totally burnt. He notes once their firefighters were wrapped up at the car fire they went back to help the remaining firefighters wrap up the grass fire.
