Council for the Rural Municipality of Hanover has approved two and a half miles of gravel roads to be rebuilt this year. Tenders have been awarded to Diamond Construction and Fast Brothers to reconstruct portions of Road 20E, 30E and 35N.

Half a mile along Road 20E will be rebuilt north of Provincial Road 311 and west of Highway 59. The lowest bid and winning tender is for $159,800.00 to Diamond Construction. That is $200.00 less than what had been budgeted.

One mile of Road 30E is being reconstructed from Road 35N to Highway 52, which is west of Mitchell. The lowest bid and winning tender is for $311,800.00 to Diamond Construction. That is $13,200.00 less than what had been budgeted.

And, one mile of Road 35N is being reconstructed from Road 31E to Road 32E, which is southeast of Mitchell. The lowest bid and winning tender is for $334,000.00 to Fast Brothers Incorporated. That is $9,000.00 more than what had been budgeted.

"These roads will be totally rebuilt, they get dug out, filter cloth and they get about two feet of granular material," explains Reeve Stan Toews. "So they should become a very good road."

Toews explains the three roads are heavily travelled and give the municipality the most trouble. He expects work to begin shortly.
