The Hanover School Division is hopeful to have an additional 15 classrooms by September 2016.

Niverville Elementary SchoolSuperintendent Randy Dueck says the additional classrooms are all a part of the Provincial Government's 20-K3 initiative to have no more than 20 students in each Kindergarten to Grade 3 classroom. Dueck says there has already been three schools granted additions and two out of those three have been tendered.

"Two that are already tendered are Southoaks, where it's a four classroom addition, and Blumenort, where it's a two Kindergarten classroom addition. So we hope to see the shovel in the ground soon on that. And we're anticipating soon at Niverville Elementary that we'll be able to take that one to tender as well and get that shovel in the ground too [for a five classroom addition]."

Dueck adds Mitchell Elementary has also been approved for a four classroom addition which is currently having the architect drawings rendered. He notes they're then hoping to tender in November.

He says because these projects are being completed through the Provincial Government's initiative they are at no cost to the division. Dueck adds they are tremendously excited about adding this kind of space into the division.
