The westbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway are closed near the Landmark turnoff due to a fatal accident early this morning.
Tache Fire Chief Pete Skjaerlund says they got the call just before 5 a.m. that two SUV's had collided and rolled into the ditch. At 6 a.m. he told us the scene was being cleared. But Skjaerlund adds that changed around 6:45. "It appears that it was in fact a fatality and RCMP have shut down the highway due to investigation."
Westbound traffic on the Trans-Canada is being routed onto the service road for a one mile stretch.
There was one male driver in each of the SUV's.
