Update 12 p.m.

The deceased male driver of the Chevrolet Blazer has been identified as a 22-year-old man from the RM of Ste Anne. His name will not be released.
 
The driver of the Ford Explorer, a 26-year-old man from the RM of Ste Anne, is facing charges of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death. He is scheduled to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court on August 17th, 2012.
 
No further information is available. Police continue to investigate.

Update 11 a.m.

Tache Fire Chief Peter Skjaerlund reports the westbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway have been re-opened at the scene of a fatal collision early this morning.

Update 9 a.m.

One person is dead following a two vehicle collision early Friday on the Trans-Canada Highway. It happened one mile east of the Landmark turnoff(PR 206) shortly before 5 a-m.
    
RCMP say a 2004 Ford Explorer and a 1983 Chevy Blazer were involved in a rear end collision. Both drivers, adult males, were transported to hospital where one of them died. There were no other people in the vehicles.

The westbound lanes of the Highway #1 remain closed at the scene with a detour onto the north service road.

The westbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway are closed near the Landmark turnoff due to a fatal accident early this morning.
    
Tache Fire Chief Pete Skjaerlund says they got the call just before 5 a.m. that two SUV's had collided and rolled into the ditch. At 6 a.m. he told us the scene was being cleared. But Skjaerlund adds that changed around 6:45. "It appears that it was in fact a fatality and RCMP have shut down the highway due to investigation."

Westbound traffic on the Trans-Canada is being routed onto the service road for a one mile stretch.
    
There was one male driver in each of the SUV's.
