A woman from La Broquerie is running for the NDP in the Dawson Trail riding in the provincial election. Roxane Dupuis says she and her husband have two sons and adds she has been active in various community organizations over the years. Dupuis explains what drew her to the NDP and why she is pursuing provincial politics.

"I see it as our only choice for continuing to grow as a province. And I felt that this time around, in terms of presenting myself as a candidate for Dawson Trail, that I had a great opportunity to contribute. To be honest, I've always felt that the best way to make a difference is to be involved. Dawson Trail has some good things going for it and there's some great projects on the line here and I felt this was a great time to get involved."

One of those projects is in Lorette. Dupuis notes NDP leader Greg Selinger joined her in Lorette Monday to re-announce funding for a multiplex. She says, if the NDP is re-elected, it will follow through on a promise to provide half of the funding for the facility up to $8 million. She is also hoping to build on the legacy left behind by long time MLA Ron Lemieux.

"I'm hoping the people of Dawson Trail will see all the good things that Ron and the NDP have done for them. There are some great projects that have been thrown out there. The multiplex announcement is just one of them. There are some other great projects in sight for this constituency and I hope the people of Dawson Trail will keep that in mind on the 19th."

Dupuis says she is getting various responses from voters at this early point in the campaign.

"Some people are definitely supporting the NDP. Others are undecided which is great news for us. It gives us a chance to talk about the investments that have been made and those that are in the works. And, in addition, it gives us a chance to listen to what people's concerns are. We're realistic. We know we won't be able to change everybody's mind but we're hoping the results we've shown over the last few years will help the people of Dawson Trail see that the NDP deserve another mandate and that we'll deliver good on our promises."
