There will soon be some changes in traffic patterns through the construction zone on Highway #12 north in Steinbach. Phil Kalyta, the city's head engineer, says the project is progressing well.

"They're working on the centre medians now. We have some curbing that's going to be going in this week and then the asphalt crews will come in after the weekend and do some paving on those and then we'll move traffic there (to the other lanes). But it will still remain one lane each way."

Kalyta adds there will soon be even more activity at that construction site.

"Hydro will start working in the centre median, putting up street lights and the traffic signals will also start working once we get into early August."

It will be sometime in September before the entire project is finished.
