The hallways at Clearspring Centre in Steinbach might resemble a book store this week. That is because the annual Bethesda Auxiliary fall Book Faire runs Thursday through Saturday.

"We have been working since the beginning of September, sorting and pricing books," says Chair Ruth Heppner. "We've had many, many donations, excellent donations, good quality books and so they will be out for your purchase."

The Bethesda Auxiliary holds two book sales each year. There is the spring sale which is the larger of the two and generally brings in between $17,000 - $18,000. And then there is the fall sale, which has fewer categories and takes in between $11,000 - $12,000.

Heppner says this year they are trying to raise enough funds to purchase a bathtub unit for Bethesda Place. She says these cost between $25,000 - $30,000. Some of those funds are already in from the spring sale.

Heppner says this very specialized tub is built in such a way that caregivers don't need to strain while getting patients into and out of the tub. She notes the Auxiliary tries to fund items that might not necessarily be on the government's priority list.

The Bethesda Auxiliary Book Faire runs from Thursday at 9am to Saturday at 4pm.
