Mountain Biker Ty Andres spends every morning training for the 2016 Power Smart Manitoba Summer Games.

Andres says he has been biking competitively for about four years.

"I was watching BMX in the Olympics in the London games and then I just wanted to do that, and then I got into the mountain biking club and I just started riding."

Andres says he finished well enough at this year's Brandon, Grand Beach, and Sandilands races to qualify for the Eastman team. He notes he is excited to compete against some of his friends at the summer games and has been training daily.

"Every morning me and my mom, I wake up early, get ready, and then we go out for a big ride around our area and then sometimes we go on team rides with the team. We have only done one so far."

Andres says he will be participating in both the Blind Creek short track in Steinbach as well as the long track in the Sandilands. He says the long track is a more enjoyable event because there are more obstacles to negotiated and you are usually in the forest.

Andres says he is looking forward to hanging out with friends at the summer games and watching some of the other sports.
