The Rural Municipality of La Broquerie has a third candidate running for Reeve.

Lewis Weiss was born in the La Broquerie Municipality and after moving away for a number of years, has been back as the business owner of Weiss Auto Recycling and Metalmaster Autobody for the last 25 years.

Weiss notes he's been encouraged by members of the community to run for Reeve during the last 12-16 years, noting there was even a council member who recently encouraged him to announce his candidacy.

“I believe I will do quite well and I will listen to the people. I've an invested interest to keep taxes down because I do pay a lot of tax and I'm sure the others do as well. So honesty and integrity is what we're going for and campaigning for.”

Weiss feels it would be quite easy because most of the issues which are important to the ratepayers are also important to him. He says he wants to see progress in farming and business.

“We have good property and areas in this municipality that more businesses can start and I'm all good for that. Hylife is expanding, we are definitely not against that, they are a great asset to this area and other farming as well. So we definitely don't want to step on any toes there, they've done very well for us directly and indirectly, so we're all for that.”

Weiss notes the Municipality has done very well the last eight years and that's showing in the numbers. He says he wouldn't want to change anything in that regard. Weiss explains he will operate with openness, honesty and integrity which is the same way he runs his business.

Weiss encourages everyone to come out on voting day to have their say at the polls.
