The Steinbach Regional Secondary School will have increased accessibility within their school for all students.

Superintendent Randy Dueck says they tendered out the stage lift project and it was won by Penn-Co for a cost of $89,729 plus tax. Dueck adds, hopefully, work on the project can begin soon.

"We've known for some time now that access to the SRSS stage is very difficult. Finding the right way to provide a lift and access has been a challenge, but now we've been able to do that, and we've drawn up plans for that."

Dueck adds the other accessibility project is rebuilding the elevator from the 1972 addition. He says the Manitoba's Public School's Finance Board recently approved their request. Dueck notes they will be drawing up designs and tendering out the project shortly to continue in providing improved accessibility for all students.
