Manitoba Water Stewardship is now calling for flood levels similar to 1979 in much of the Red River Valley from Letellier to the floodway inlet. The higher levels are a result of rain and higher tributary flows. Sunday's rain amounts ranged from 5 to 10 millimetres, a further 5 to 10 millimetres is expected Thursday. The crest will now be later than expected. It's anticipated at Morris on Friday and St.Adolphe on the weekend. Meantime, Disaster Financial Assistance will be available to deal with the damage from this year's spring flood. Steve Ashton, Minister responsible for emergency measures says the devastation caused by ice over the last couple of weeks has been significant. He says DFA cannot fully replace what's lost but it can provide some relief, where insurance is not available, for those affected by this event.
