Crews have begun the task of making repairs to the bridge crossing the Rat River east of Ste.Agathe.

Ruth Eden is Executive Director of Structures with Manitoba Infrastructure. She says the bridge along Provincial Road 305 is now closed to traffic for regular maintenance.

"We're in there, replacing portions of the timber deck that aren't in great condition," explains Eden. "And we're also going to be replacing the asphalt over the whole bridge."

Eden says only the bridge itself is closed to traffic. Local traffic is still allowed in the area, as long as motorists are not trying to cross the bridge.

According to Eden, if weather permits they should have the work done in two to three weeks.
