Matt Radomsky stopped all 19 shots fired his way in recording his first career MJHL shutout over the Virden Oil Capitals 5-0 on Friday night.

It was a bit of a slower first period then the Pistons were perhaps expecting as both teams kept play mainly in the centre ice area. Steinbach finally broke through late as Ryan Carlson took the puck from behind his own net and skated it through centre, he dished it off to Bradley Schoonbaert who fed Will Koop for a good shot on net, the original save was made but Mack Graham was there waiting to lift the backhand home giving the Pistons a 1-0 lead heading into the first break.

With the Pistons holding on to a slim lead, Virden would get their best chance of the night, a clear cut breakaway by teams leading scorer Mack Hardy. Radomsky came out and challenged the winger, Radomsky explains what was going through his mind in that moment. "I just looked at his stick, the angle said he was going to go high glove. So I did the one knee down like Henrik Lundquvist and got a piece of it."

It was then time for the quick strike offence for Steinbach took over. First, on the power play, Schoonbaert took a perfect pass from Mack Graham to make it 2-0 Steinbach. Mark Taraschuk picked up the secondary assist giving the defenseman 4 points in his past two games. Just 22 seconds later, Darby Gula's wrist shot from the point found the back of the net to extend the lead to three with Drew Anderson and Tyson McConnell drawing the assists.

Before the period was through, a truly heads up play from Scott Petkau, lead to Steinbach's fourth goal of the game. As a fluttering point shot from Davis Beauchamp made it's way towards the net, Petkau had his stick tied up so he did the only thing he could and that was make a head pass to a waiting Vaughn Dupre who put home his second goal in as many games.

In the third, former Oil Capital Carter Chorney scored to make it 5-0 with assists to Troy Williams and McConnell who picked up his second point on the night. The horn sounded and Steinbach walked away with the win.

The Pistons record now stands at 15-1-1 for 31 points. They hold a 5 point lead on second place. Steinbach welcomes in Waywayseecappo on Sunday night at 7:00pm.
