A leisure services coordinator has been hired for the Rural Municipality of La Broquerie.

Dave Little has spent the last 20 years working in recreation and living in Nunavut and the Interlake region of Manitoba. Little says he was in the area during the 2016 Power Smart Manitoba Summer Games and was able to speak with someone from La Broquerie about the areas of recreation they were trying to kick start. He adds he's excited for the opportunity to work in La Broquerie.

"The one thing that I was really impressed about with this community was, not only when you did your renovations to the arena, but one of the things that stood out was you made the opportunity to have a female-only dressing room. Coming from rural Manitoba, lots of times female athletes are put somewhere else. So that little thing to recognize how important sport and recreation is to everybody was amazing to me."

Little says he's also looking forward to the extensive trail system being headed by the La Broquerie CDC. He notes not everyone is into sports but there are many other opportunities to participate in recreation.

Reeve Lewis Weiss says Little will be a great asset to the municipality. Little's first day is January 16, 2017.
