The former Riverbend Realty building on the corner of Loewen Boulevard and Brandt Street in Steinbach is getting a big makeover in preparation for a new tenant.

Evan Schinkel is the President of Superior Project Inc. He says the whole corner will look very different when renovations are complete and the building is home to a KFC drive-thru.

"The building is getting a totally new facade according to KFC specifications along with site work to accommodate a drive-thru. KFC will be taking the main floor. We are doing the leasehold improvements and getting the space ready for KFC to do their work inside."

Schinkel says the parking lot itself will not need much reworking to accommodate a drive-thru. He notes for safety reasons the area around the building will be closed to traffic while exterior renovations are being completed but it should not affect traffic flow through the parking lot.

Schinkel says the second floor of the building will have a separate entrance and be available for lease as office space. He notes the whole corner will look different when everything is complete.

"It is really exciting, I think it will look like a brand new building and it sure will make the corner look fabulous after KFC is done with all their work, it will definitely brighten things up for our community."

Schinkel notes the current KFC restaurant in Victoria Plaza will remain open until the new, larger location is ready.
