Stan Doerksen was a long distance truck driver travelling on Highway 16 near Plunkett Saskatchewan when his semi truck and trailer were involved in a head on collision with another semi.

Doerksen was working for Plett Trucking in Landmark at the time of the accident. Owners Tim and Jenny Plett say he was always very professional. Tim Plett says, “he did everything exactly as he was supposed to do. Sometimes you are in the wrong place at the wrong time, unfortunately. He did absolutely everything perfectly right, and I can't say that enough.”

Doerksen has spent his long distance driving career at a few local trucking companies including Penner International, Plett Trucking, HyLife and most recently again at Plett Trucking.

Doerksen leaves behind his wife Cari and their two young children.

According to Jenny Plett, an Education Trust Fund is being set up at the RBC in Steinbach for Stan and Cari's daughters ages, four and five and a half.
