Manitoba RCMP say their Roving Traffic Unit stopped a vehicle in the Rural Municipality of Reynolds loaded with cocaine.
On March 29th at approximately 7 pm, the unit stopped a westbound vehicle along the Trans Canada Highway. Officers had reason to believe the driver was in possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Police stopped the vehicle and conducted a search. The search located a sophisticated aftermarket compartment in the rear of the SUV that contained 61 kilograms of cocaine.
Officers seized the cocaine and took the driver into custody. He is a 29-year-old male from Alberta.
Charges have not been laid at this time.
The investigation continues.
