We are now entering the peak period in Manitoba for the risk of human exposure to West Nile Virus. Dr. Susan Roberecki is deputy chief medical officer of health. She says even though mosquito populations are down this summer, a greater percentage of those mosquitoes are capable of carrying West Nile Virus. Meantime, there are now 13 communities in southern Manitoba to test positive for West Nile Virus. The town of Niverville is one of the latest to make the list which already includes Steinbach.
