Apparently its time to take a different approach to dealing with beavers.  The Seine Rat River Conservation District has found that there is only so much effort you can put into controlling or killing beavers.  So it's trying something new called a pond leveller.  It's a pipe that gets installed into the middle of the beaver dam and then sticks out into the open water.  The beaver can then try to build up the dam, but it won't work.  And the pond will go down to the level they want it to be.  The plan is to monitor this new system and if things go well, to install a few more next year.  Manager Patrick Watson says they found it's better to try and live with the beavers because the animals provide a lot of benefits to wildlife in addition to retaining water and improving water quality.
