Cattle producers from across the southeast met Thursday to discuss the anthrax outbreak in Manitoba.  73 animals have died on 9 farms in the Tolstoi area in recent weeks due to anthrax.  The Manitoba Farm Animal Council held an information session at Friedensfeld Hall south of Steinbach.  Doctor Kevin Miller with the Candian Food Inspection Agency tells us topics included what to do if anthrax infects your cattle.  He also spoke about the risk to humans and how to prevent the disease.  Millar feels sharing as much information as possible really helps to set producer's minds at ease.  And it gives them some context to understand the risks and what can be done to fight it.  Two more meetings are being planned for other parts of the southeast with dates yet to be announced.
